The biggest problem Kevin has had with this machine is that he could only get 5 pound spools of filament in the 3 millimeter diameter it uses.
Kevin shows a nearly 3-foot-tall sculpture, Solar Conundrum ( https://kevincaron.com/art/solar-conundrum/ ). It only took 1 5-pound spool of 3D-printing filament, but it took almost the whole spool to do it.
If you want to make a bigger 3D print, though, you have to change spools to 3D print it – 5 pounds is just not enough.
Ten pounds could get Kevin closer. But the biggest 3D print he’s done so far, Epic Swoon ( https://kevincaron.com/art/epic-swoon/ ), took about 13 pounds of filament. It seemed like he was up half the night changing spools!
Then Kevin ran into the good folks at Keene Village Plastics. He called, emailed, and even wound up talking to the owner of the company. Kevin Caron explained about his big 3D printer, sending the owner pictures of the 3D printer itself and some of the sculptures he creates. The owner said they could help!
Kevin holds up a 15 pound spool of 3D printing filament made right here in the good old U S of A! Keene Village Plastics offers 3D printer filament in many different colors, too.
Now Kevin can start a sculpture with a fresh spool and doesn’t have to get up in the middle of the night to change it! He doesn’t have to worry about what’s going to happen if the machine doesn’t start again, or what’s going to happen if he oversleeps and runs out of filament.
These 15-pound spools of 3D printing filament give him enough to do anything he can print with this machine because it only prints 4 feet tall, and a 15-pound spool will print longer than that.
Kevin thanks the good folks at Keene Village Plastic not only for helping with this little problem, but for also helping him get a good night’s sleep. He’s really looking forward to his next print to try out these big 15-pound spools from Keene Village Plastics.
If you need – or want these big spools, pop out to http://www.villageplastics.com. The big spools may not be on the Website yet, so you can contact them at 330-753-0100 or sales@villageplastics.com .
Kevin appreciates you watching. Don’t forget to pop out to https://kevincaron.com/3dprint, because there’s all kinds of cool stuff out there – you’ll even get to see what happened the last time he tried to print something big – that was ugly!
Before you go, though, you may want him put fear into the heart of specialty doctors everywhere ….
