Kevin shows the Everlast’s newest multiprocess welder, the MTS 275 Lightning.
As a multiprocess welder, this machine does TIG, stick (arc) and MIG welding. It also has a spool gun. It’s a brand new machine – Kevin just got it a week or so ago, and it hasn’t even hit the market yet.
First, Kevin gives a quick tour of this welder, which is the new, improved model, if you will, of Everlast’s MTS 252 STi, which is also a multifunction machine – this is like a big brother to it.
The welder has a nice big display so you can easily see what’s going on. Nice, big knobs help when you have gloves on, making it easy to adjust things.
Everlast was actually the first company to offer AC DC, TIG with pulse, along with the DC MIG and the AC DC stick. And a spool gun! So this is proven technology. Kevin has 2 of Everlast’s welders with this technology, and he’s been beating the bejesus out of them with no problems whatsoever.
Kevin then turns to the Everlast MTS 275 Lightning’s display panel and shows how easy it is to set it up for MIG welding on mild steel. He pages down to that option and selects it. The display panels shows the gas mix as 25% CO2, 75% argon.
All the parameters are shown on the screen: wire speed, voltage, upslope, downslope, preflow, etc. are all shown. So it’s very, very easy to set up.
Kevin is ready to do a test weld, so he puts on his safety gear and sets the welder at 300 inches a minute and 24 volts to weld some mild steel and some stainless steel.
He welds for just 23 seconds and gets a sweet and easy weld. There’s a nice little bead with just a few “BBs.” This welder is just so easy to set up – click two buttons, twist a knob, and you’re ready to go to work. Says Kevin: “I like it!”
Now, if you really want to get into the different parameters, you can dig down – there are a lot of other menus below the main screen, so you can really tune in this welder just the way you want it.
Some of you may have noticed, too, as you look down there toward the bottom of the welding cart there’s a welder water cooler. Kevin Caron will definitely do a video about TIG welding with a water cooler!
So that’s just a quick little introduction to the Everlast MTS 275 Lightning welder, which is, oddly enough, a 250 amp machine – he hasn’t quite figured that out yet.
