Kevin has been checking out ESAB’s Cutmaster 60i beast of a plasma cutter and wants to share his thoughts about it.

Not only is this plasma cutter small physically so it doesn’t take up a lot of room on your workbench, it’s only 37 pounds. You can pick it up and carry it out to do a job or walk around job site with it.

You can even carry it up a ladder, but you don’t have to, because it comes with a 20 foot cable! You can also get longer cables for it, up to 100 feet! On the machine, there’s just a little setting for a different length cable, then you’re good to go. So take it up to the top of the building!

The Cutmaster 60i’s SL60QD torch is also really cool. To attach and remove it, just unscrew it, which is great if you want to easily change your torch head or want to use the plasma cutter on a CNC table. The torch just clicks and slides in – a couple or three turns, and you’re ready to go. It’s a great, great feature.

Kevin also loves the safety on the torch trigger. The torch won’t light unless you pull back the safety and squeeze at the same time. It’s the only way it’s going to work.

This plasma cutter comes with a great little accessory box, too. It has a diagram on the lid that shows all the different part numbers for all the different consumable pieces. So you don’t have to take a part to a welding store or take a picture of it – you can just call with a part number, and they can look it up.

On top of the machine is a really nice decal with safety information, and the information inside your consumable box is repeated right here, so it’s right in front of you. You can get part numbers easily, and you also can see how things go together. It’s very well thought out.

But it all really comes down to the proof in the pudding – or in this case, slag on the floor. What really shows what this machine does is when you start making cuts with it. Look how it cuts an inch and a half plate steel! I’m impressed. I love it.

This plasma cutter will also gouge – I’ve never gouged with a plasma cutter before. With this machine, you just change consumables, and get right to it.

There are a few other videos about this plasma cutter in this series, so if you want to see the videos where I was actually cutting this inch-and-a-half plate and gouging, check them out.

And if you watch these how-to videos and really really want one of these machines, I have a surprise for you: a coupon code for a $150 discount on the Cutmaster 60i plasma cutter, courtesy of ESAB. It’s a limited time offer, so don’t delay!
