A woman emailed Kevin recently and asked, “What was that ah-ha moment in your career when you knew you were an artist?”

Kevin says he’d have to go back to about a year or year-and-a-half into his professional art career – from January 1, 2006, when he quit driving a semi for a living and became a professional, full-time artist to about 2007 or 2008 – when he realized people were coming to and calling him, asking him to create something for them.

People were buying his work. He nearly sold out of his sculptures at one point, and people kept calling. That was amazing.

Then Kevin realized that the sculptures he creates are his friends, his buddies, his babies. He gets a good feeling from them. That’s what helped him finally realize he is an artist, a sculptor, that he is doing cool work. It made him feel good.

In the beginning he had trouble saying he was an artist. He had trouble saying the word “sculptor” – he had to look it up to make sure he was spelling it right!

If this is the first time you’ve seen his work, Kevin hopes you enjoy seeing more sculptures, hearing his water sculptures and sound sculptures. You can even see more how-to videos on the site – they’re all there.

Well, you may want to stick around for another moment and see Kevin think about a bright and shiny future (or not) ….
