Kevin has a piece of pipe with a 45 degree angle cut on one end. What if you want to cut exactly the same angle on the other end to, say, make a frame?

This is one of the simplest tricks Kevin says he’ll ever show you. This tip will work with a horizontal bandsaw, a chopsaw or even a hacksaw.

All you have to do is clamp your pipe and get your first cut oriented correctly. Then grab a level and put it on your first cut. Now tighten down your clamp and turn on your saw. Now your new cut will be on the same plane as the original cut.

Kevin shows how the original pipe and the part he cut off fit together cleanly and true to create a nice square, sharp corner.

If you don’t have a bandsaw or a chopsaw, but you have a hacksaw or a grinder with a cut-off wheel, you still can use this tip.

Just place your level flat on your workbench, then line it up with both sides of your cut and make sure your bubble is right up against your pipe, and mark the top of your pipe. Now come back with your square set at a 45 degree angle, and draw a longer line. Clamp your pipe to your workbench or put it in a vise, and now you are ready to make your cut.
