Whenever I work on my 3D printers I can pretty much guarantee it will take 4 times as long as I thought it would. Or longer.

Often, Steve Graber of Cerberus 3D, who built all 3 of my 3D printers, is along for the ride.

This time I ordered and installed a new extruder for my 8-foot-tall Cerberus 3D Gigante printer, but I knew I’d want Steve’s help calibrating it. And how!

Unlike many of my free how-to videos, though, I did 2 of them as unfiltered sessions so you can get a feel of what it is like to be in the room when Steve and I are working on the printers. Except for a very few cuts of really bad camera work, you will see it all.

The first video is about 10 minutes long, while the second 1 is – gulp – an hour plus. It goes quickly, though, as we share information and insights about these amazing machines.

Still, it goes pretty fast when you’re having fun, which we were – except for maybe that 1 moment when the printhead crashed into the print bed and broke, and even that was kind of a hoot ….

Enjoy!
