From one perspective, the bell of this sound sculpture appears to be held in a twist, while from another, it is clearly hanging free, its elephantine “feet” boldly astride.
When the wind moves this bell, its tone is sonorous and sweet.
Watch the first video to see how Kevin created the feet.
The second video shows how Kevin handles wrinkles created when convincing the metal to twist and swoop, and in the third one he talks about finishing the piece.
Private Collection, Thousand Oaks, California. Oxidized steel, 86″ x 95″ x 24″, 2009
