The railroads that were crucial to the development of Cape Cod are now long forgotten, but their effect is still evident. Less evident, yet contributing to sustaining the Cape, is the marsh-loving succulent glasswort (also known as sea pickle).
This sculpture, which appeared in the show Appearances in Provincetown, Massachusetts, celebrates the Cape’s past and its fragile future.
Its plate is buried upon installation.
Private Collection, Phoenix, Arizona. Steel, 58″ x 24″ x 4″, 2012
