This sculpture was inspired by a drawing by artist M.C. Escher.

Although more free form, like the grid in Escher’s drawing Mobius II, Kevin’s sculpture is three-dimensional but has only one side (click here to learn about möbius strips).

The video shows how Kevin is twisting the grid in his slip roll. He actually used the slip roll, the air shaper, a hammer on his anvil, and heat to achieve the flow and angles he wanted, but seeing him feed the grid through the slip roll is amazing….
